Our Centre

Located on street Camino Viejo de Vélez, in the neighborhood of El Palo in Málaga, our institution was created in 1979.

El Palo currently assists in the learning of more than eight hundred students, with sixty-four professors belonging to one of the seventeen seminars that make up the Pedagogical Coordination Task Force.

The educational levels offered by our center include primary secondary school, baccalaureate, vocational training and PCPI.

We offer different educational programs such as bilingualism, ICT, Escuela Espacio Paz, school sports, libraries, family plan, and living plan.

One aspect that characterizes the teaching in our center is the contact that IES El Palo maintains with schools in other countries. Over the past few years we have been involved in a foreign exchange program with Lymm High School in England, and also have participated in a Comenius Project in Jessheimvideregående skole in Norway, the Gymnasium Carolinum in Germany and as well with Baruffi ECC in Italy. The majority of the thirty years of this program’s existence has involved frequent trips and exchanges Denmark, France, England, Germany, etc.

From the academic year 2006/2007, a lot of our students have had the posibility of carry out their Practical Traineeship at Working Centres from other countries of the EU. In addition, through the years 2010-2012, the faculty has made Studing Visits, in the framework of the Permanent Learning Program of the EU, to countries as Czech Republic, Sweden, Malta and Turkey, with the objective of improving their skills and finding new partners to expand the exchange program. Thanks to our international activity, in the year 2012 we made a Leonardo Project with institutions from Malta, Denmark, Netherlands and Scotland.

In the year 2014, we obtained the ECHE (European Charter for High Education) as well as two own mobility projects inside the Erasmus+ Program, which has started in the academical course 2014/2015.

DID YOU KNOW THAT...?

The Erasmus scolarship is named in that way because of Erasmo of Rotterdam.

Geert Geertsen (Roterdam, 1466 - Basilea, 1536), known as Erasmus of Rotterdam, was a Dutch Renaissance humanist, Catholic priest, social critic, teacher, and theologian, author of important written works.

During his life, he wrote important books, but he also wrote essays, and he was an incredible philologist and philosopher. Some of their writtings include New Testament's translations to some european languages, some texts that disagree with the Catholic Church and Luther at the same time, and a New Testament's new view. He was so critical that all his works were included in the List of Prohibited Books by the Trent Council, as well as most of the Protestant writers.
